SUMMARY:Behind the Scenes: A Discussion about Challenges\, Decision Making
 and Ethics in Anthropological Fieldwork
DESCRIPTION:Field work is omnipresent. Both supporters and critics disagree
about this method. Especially in today's time the critics' voices are get
ting louder and louder. But what does it actually mean to conduct field re
search? What challenges am I confronted with? How do I deal with them? How
do you deal with all the information gathered in field work\, what is wor
ked on further and what is left behind? How do these decision-making proce
sses affect the research and which aspects are made invisible in the proce
ss? How do I make sure to be mindful of all involved parties? How do I dec
ide what to include in my published work?\\r\\nThis event is co-organised
by the student associations (FGs) Cultural Anthropology and Social Anthrop
ology and was developed based on a previous course. The invited guests The
res Inauen (Cultural Anthropology) and Zainabu Jallo (Social Anthropology)
are teaching at University of Basel. Together with members of the student
body they will embark on a moderated discussion about what happens behind
the scenes\, the Challenges\, the Decision Making and the Ethics in Anthr
opological Fieldwork. This event is organized by students for all who are
interested to get more knowledge about the practical side of field work. W
e encourage and invite all attendees to share their personal knowledge and
  experience.
