SUMMARY:Intimacies in Motion: Love and Belonging across Borders and Generat
 ions - Doctoral Research Proposal Presentations
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, Nadia and Selina explore the entanglements of
  love\, belonging\, and mobility in Europe and Tajikistan by presenting th
 eir doctoral research proposals. Nadia’s participatory\, multimodal ethn
 ography traces the affective landscapes\, memories\, and desires of mother
 s and daughters with mobile biographies through a sound collage of fragmen
 ted stories and experimental soundscapes. Her focus lies on (queer) becomi
 ng and belonging against persisting and intersecting xenophobia\, homophob
 ia\, and anti-Muslim hatred in late-capitalist societies. The research is 
 part of the SNF-funded project “Inherited Futures? Objects\, Time\, Know
 ledge”.  Selina\, in her ethnographic fieldwork in Tajikistan\, draws o
 n the region's Persian literary heritage and its contemporary local interp
 retations to explore the multilayered dimensions of love. She aims to rese
 arch love’s political potential as it shapes\, disrupts\, and maintains 
 social bonds beyond the scope of marriage and households\, looking instead
  at spaces and moments of solidarity\, friendship and spirituality. Join u
 s in this session to engage in discussions on how we (could) navigate comp
 lex research ethics and methodological questions.
