New publication by Olena Sobolieva

Olena Sobolieva, together with co-authors Dobrosława Wiktor-Mach (Krakow University of Economics) and Konrad Pędziwiatr (Krakow University of Economics / Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw), has published a new article in Comparative Migration Studies.

The article, titled “Navigating (im)mobility in an urban space: migrant’s lived experience in Kyiv/Ukraine before 2022”, examines the migration strategies and everyday experiences of internal migrants in Kyiv before Russia’s full-scale invasion. Using the aspiration–capability framework, the study investigates how urban environments influence decisions to stay, move, or return. It highlights the importance of social networks, emotional attachments, and local opportunities.
