To pursue a PhD in Social Anthropology at the University of Basel, several formal criteria need to be fulfilled:
- Excellent MA in Anthropology and strong training in the theories and methods of Social Anthropology.
- Doctoral research project topics have to fit strongly with one or more of the Institute’s areas of expertise.
- If you are interested in doing your PhD in Social Anthropology at the University of Basel, first consider all the information above and then contact Prof. Dr. George Paul Meiu.
- Upon request from the institute, you will then have to prepare a PhD pre-proposal.
- The pre-proposal should have between three and five pages, include a clear statement of purpose, scientific relevance and methodological approach. It must not exceed 3’000 words, all references and footnotes included.
