“This is the Only Way to Go”: The Online and Offline Life of Fake Certificates in Kenya
The state's enhanced capacities of digital governance have brought the production and circulation of fake certificates to the public fore in Kenya. By tracing the social life of fake certificates, I will show how the converged affordances of urban space and digital space reconcile and transform contrasting meanings of forgery and credentials in contemporary Kenya.
